A Pennsylvania pastor had a gun pulled on him by a man who police later discovered had a dead body in his home.

On Sunday (May 5), Glenn Germany was delivering a sermon at Jesus' Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock when suspected gunman Bernard Junior Polite attempted to shoot him, per PEOPLE.

Polite's gun "failed to discharge," allowing a congregation member and Germany to "subdue and disarm" him before anyone was injured.

Polite is facing charges of criminal attempt - criminal homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection to the attempted shooting. According to a criminal complaint, Polite told police that he attempted to shoot Germany because "God told him to do it." Polite also said he wanted to go to jail to clear his mind.

Following Polite's arrest, police discovered the body of a man, identified as Derek Polite, in his home. The suspected gunman is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail and has a preliminary hearing set for later this month.
